Wyoming Big Read web site launched

July 27, 2007

The Wyoming Big Read web site has just been launched at www.wyomingbigread.org. Find links to participating county libraries, reader’s guides, teacher’s guides and more. The Big Read is a community-wide reading and discussion of one book — Willa Cather’s My Antonia. Wyoming’s Big Read starts this September, with a big kickoff at the Wyoming Book Festival. Watch this blog and the web site for more news and updates.

This event is part of The Big Read, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest. Wyoming’s Big Read is supported in part by Wyoming Libraries, the Wyoming Community Foundation, the Kellogg Foundation and the Wyoming School-University Partnership.

Wyoming to take part in The Big Read of Cather’s “My Antonia”

July 18, 2007

This fall, people in 13 of Wyoming’s 23 counties will all read, discuss and fall in love with the same book: My Ántonia by Willa Cather. It’s all part of The Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) that aims to put great American literature squarely in the forefront in communities nationwide. The Wyoming Center for the Book is one of 117 organizations that received grants to support Big Read programs between September and December 2007. Find out more about Wyoming’s Big Read on the web at www.wyomingbigread.org.

The Wyoming Big Read will have its official kickoff at this fall’s first Wyoming Book Festival.
